The second discussion of Parenthrive Talkshow- Parenthood Exchange, on the vastly requested topic "Handling toddlers and Tornado" - Realities, Laughters and Lessons - took place via the ZOOM platform last Friday Night. (5th Jan 2024) This second step of the Talk show brought about a lively discussion on handling toddlers and the tantrums they often throw through the experience of two parents from our beautiful community. The conversation flowed between Hirosh Tharaka, a loving dad to his toddler Tevin Vindhula (4 years), and Najlaha Muzli, a loving mother to two sons, Mahamoud (6 years) and Malik (5 years old). Mr. Hirosh Tharaka currently works as the Engineering Lead at Sysco Lab, and Najla is the Operational Manager at New Ahli Travels and Tours.

Drawing from their experience as parents of toddlers, Hirosh and Najlaha shared their first-hand experience raising toddlers and dealing with common tantrums. The talk show was moderated by Yenuli Amaratunga, Community Catalyst from Parenthrive, who navigated the conversation through the highs and lows of parenting toddlers. The speakers' insights created a lively discussion on the challenges of parenting a toddler, providing practical advice from their parenthood journey.

The discussion initiated by the moderator took an energetic start to the topic by introducing the tantrums and common complaints by the parent community. Najlaha brought forth her experience in handling two toddlers, her journey as a toddler mom, the expected difficulties parents encounter, and how she overcame parenthood challenges. In her dialogue, she emphasized the importance of patience as a parent to a toddler when teaching them, guiding them, and accustoming the toddlers to their preferred life habits. Moreover, Najlaha exchanged her hardships as a single parent taking care of a toddler, expressing how societal perspectives could be a barrier when walking through this strenuous journey of parenthood.

Hirosh refreshed the conversation with his unique perspectives on parenting a toddler, calling attention to the importance of teaching a routined lifestyle for the toddler. As a learning dad to a 4-year-old, Hirosh highlighted the importance of disciplining the toddler the right way, stressing positive discipline- tips and tricks on handling toddler behaviors. Furthermore, he directed the audience's attention to "modeling the calm" as a parent, designing a peaceful home environment for the toddler to enhance the behavioral growth of the child.

The talk show was wrapped up with a Q&A session, opening the platform for parents to direct their questions to the speakers. The audience actively participated, bringing forward their hardships as a parent to toddlers in search of practical advice. As the conversation unfolded, the talk show highlighted the importance of creating awareness of positive parenting for toddlers when dealing with challenging behavioral patterns.
