On April 20th, Horizon Club marked its seventh meeting at Ninewells Family Wellness Center Colombo 07. Dr. Sriyani Samaraweera, a Dermatologist at Ninewells Hospitals, conducted the insightful session. The session focused on raising awareness of these common skin conditions among children.
Members of the Horizon Club of Parenthrive, Club leaders, and eager new participants for the Parenthrive Club attended the session. Children’s delicate skin is an easy target for many skin conditions. That is why addressing common skin conditions in children is crucial to safeguarding the overall skin health of your baby. Dr. Sriyani Samaraweera implicitly explained this matter by speaking out on the current views of dermatology in today’s society.
In addition to the general guidelines parents should follow when safeguarding a child’s skin barrier, Dr. Sriyani also spoke on methods to protect your child’s skin against the heatwave Sri Lanka is going through. Special concerns regarding skin blisters, animal bites, sweat rashes, and nappy rashes in toddlers were brought up by the attendees and resolved. Parents of toddlers had many concerns regarding their child’s skin health and Dr. Sriyani provided an understanding of these issues and why they occur.
The club session was a resounding success for a multitude of reasons, parents resolved their issues on skin health, shared practical tips and and tricks to get children to enjoy their bath and skin care time, methods to protect your child’s skin at school, raised an informed awareness on the importance of skin health from a young age and gained valuable and insightful advice from Dr. Sriyani.
