GoMunch with GLOMARK, is another unique initiative of Parenthrive with the valued collaboration of SOFTLOGIC GLOMARK, Sri Lanka's first-ever global market. GoMuch is a series of informative sessions on all things related to Food and Parenting, aiming to simplify the parenthood journey for dedicated parents, providing them with valuable insights and correct information on children’s health and development.

 

Bringing you valuable, live sessions on Children’s Health & Nutritional needs, Simple and Easy recipes & Lunchbox ideas, GoMunch makes the parenthood journey easy for parents who are always looking out to fulfill their children's physical and mental needs dutifully.

 

The very first event of the GoMuch series took place at Glomark – Thalawathugoda on 27th January 2024 (last Saturday), successfully marking its first launch of the series. This vibrant event was conducted by an experienced nutritionist with the support of a skilled chef in the industry.

 

The lively demonstration of the nutritionist, Ms. Nethmi Silva (BSc. Hons in Nutrition), and the chef of Glomark grabbed the attention of parents who were eager to learn about providing nutritious meals for their children. Ms. Nethmi Silva introduced freshly made, easy & nutritious meals for parents who lead hectic lives, balancing work and parental responsibilities.  Five recipes with highly healthy nutrients yet simple and affordable for all parents were demonstrated live on this day at the Glomark outlet.

 

Parents who joined with their children had hearty one-on-one conversations with the nutritionist to get their doubts and worries clarified about their child's food patterns and preferences. Ms. Nethmi further instructed the parents on how to present the food to the child, dealing with picky eaters, emphasizing the importance of nutrition for the early physical development of the child.

Recipe 01 - Avocado and Tuna Sandwich 

Ingredients -

  • 2 Slices of wholewheat bread
  • 1 Mashed avocado
  • 1 Can of tuna
  • Salt and pepper - to taste
  • Lemon Juice
  • 2 tsp Mayonnaise
  • Cucumber, bell pepper, onion (finely chopped)

 

Mash the avocado slightly with a fork until a very chunky mash forms. Drizzle some

lemon juice into it and give it a good mix. Then add tuna, mayonnaise, finely chopped

cucumber, bell pepper, onion and mix everything until fully combined. Season the

mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Mound the mixture on top of 1 slice of bread

(wholewheat) and cover it with the other slice. 

 

Recipe 02 – Overnight Oats Ingredients

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 cup of milk (almond milk/fresh cow milk etc.) - can use water also.
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds 1 tbsp honey / maple syrup 1/2 berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 2 tbsp nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts)

Before going to bed, mix oats, chia seeds, milk/ water, maple syrup/honey in a jar. Combine all the ingredients well by stirring for around 1 min. Close the lid of the jar and leave it in the fridge overnight or at least for 3-5 hours. In the morning, top it with berries, nuts as preferred.

 

Recipe 03 - Chicken and Vege Wrap

Ingredients:

  • Whole-wheat Tortilla bread
  • 2 cups of cooked shredded Chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup Grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup Celery
  • 1/2 cup Broccoli
  • 1/4 cup Chopped onions
  • 1 cup of Shredded lettuce
  • Dressing - Salt, Pepper, Mustard, Mayonnaise

Combine Chicken, Carrots, Celery, Broccoli, Onion, and Dressing in a bowl. Line tortilla bread with lettuce and on the top, layer the chicken mixture and roll it.

 

Recipe 04 - Yoghurt Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yoghurt
  • ½ tbsp flaxseed meal
  • ½ tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup assorted fresh fruits (sliced strawberries, bananas, blueberries, kiwis etc)
  • 2 tbsp granola
  • Drizzle of honey
  • Scoop yoghurt into a bowl and top with the toppings.
