The newest episode of the Parenthrive Talk Show, titled “Boyhood to Fatherhood: Cultivating character & Responsibility”  happened last Saturday evening via the ZOOM platform (March 30, 2024). This engaging discussion revolved around raising sons through boyhood to adulthood. Mr. Vidhusha Nathawitharana, and Mr. Hirosh Tharaka, both fathers, led the discussion exploring the unique approaches towards raising boys in the modern day.

 

Mr. Nathawitharana, a leadership trainer at Luminary Solutions, talked of his own experience being raised by a set of paradoxical parents that influenced how he raised his own children. He talked of how culture, social practices and religious backgrounds can have an influence on the individual your son grows  up to be. He concluded that being mindful of the environment you create for your children to grow up in is crucial as a parent

 

Mr. Tharaka contributed with asking questions such as how the generational gap affects raising children in the present and followed up with a comparative approach in the answers. The conversation carried many topics such as the importance of removing gender biases from an early age and allowing children to choose their path in life. Cultivating respect and self discipline in sons was also a major discussion topic. Both Mr. Nathawitharana and Mr. Tharaka contributed to the session engaging in a insightful back and forth about how to raise balanced, respectful and resilient boys. 


The talk show was undoubtedly a successful in providing many great insights towards parents who want to know more about raising boys mindfully in the evolving society.
